The President of Sri Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, has revoked the appointment of Harin Fernando as the head of the Central Bank and reinstated the previous head of the bank, Arindja Preyasati.
Harin Fernando was appointed to the position of head of the Central Bank last week. However, with the development of the political situation, the decision was revoked.
"I was appointed president and accepted the appointment as the head of the Central Bank. However, my appointment was revoked, and under the instructions of the president, I am returning to the position of deputy head of the Central Bank," said Harin Fernando after this decision.
Arindja Preyasati previously held the position of head of the Central Bank from 2016 to 2019, before being replaced by Harin Fernando.
