The United Arab Emirates has dispatched a humanitarian mission to Sri Lanka to assist communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah and the resulting floods and landslides. The UAE Search and Rescue Team conducted specialized field operations in coordination with Sri Lankan authorities. As part of this effort, 116 tonnes of emergency aid, including food, tents, and relief kits, were delivered. Rescuers recovered the bodies of 20 missing individuals and provided first aid to eight people with minor injuries. The disaster, caused by Cyclone Ditwah, affected over two million people—nearly 10% of Sri Lanka's population—with the death toll exceeding 618. The UAE emphasized that its humanitarian response reflects a long-standing commitment to supporting disaster-affected communities and standing with Sri Lanka during its recovery and rebuilding efforts. "These essential items were distributed to families displaced by the floods and landslides, providing immediate assistance and helping meet urgent shelter and food needs," the statement said.
